Is a Stone Island ART Number Ending in 222 Fake?
Share
If you've checked a Stone Island ART number and it ends in three 2s, stop and read this. From authenticating thousands of pieces, we've learned it is one of the quickest red flags on older Stone Island.
The rule
On older pieces that only have an ART number and no Certilogo code, an ART number ending in 222 is fake in our experience. Two 2s in a row are fine. It's the third 2 that matters.

Does this apply to every piece?
No. This applies to the older pieces from before Certilogo labels became standard, where the ART number on the wash-care label is the only code. Newer pieces have a Certilogo code you can verify instead.
Is that enough to confirm a fake?
It's a strong warning, but always check the rest too: badge stitching, label font, zips and poppers, and the overall finish. A real ART number can also be copied onto a fake, so the number alone never proves a piece is real.
